I have not tried these, but a quick search of CPAN gave the following:

• Sys::Info::Driver::BSD (provides dmesg method to access the dmesg system call)
• syslog - returns 390 results, including Net::Dev::Tools::Syslog, Sys::Syslog, No::Worries::Syslog, Unix::Syslog, and Parse::Syslog, that look applicable.
