This was asked and answered just yesterday ... er 2 days ago: y/·/./ gives two points instead of one.

You need to add use utf8; 

use utf8;

my $str = '  {Weiß am Zug}  *';
$str =~ s/Weiß/Schwarz/g;
print $str;
