Does anyone know why I needed the "buffered" property when I run this code from inside a package and not when run from within "main"?

$PM = "Perl Monk's";
$MCF = "Most Clueless Friar Abbot Bishop Pontiff Deacon";
$nysus = $PM . $MCF;
