I have been tasked with (hopefully) moving our lockbox operation from an out-sourced vendor in-house. As part of this we need to read in a simple OCR-A line that contains the account information. I've looked around the web and so far come up empty handed. I'm looking for a simple, inexpensive (~$300) ocr scan pen that will allow me (hopefully thru perl; although API could be made to work) to interface with our companies databases. The workstations will most likely be windows based, but linux is also an option. Has anyone had any experience/success/failures with similar projects? Even pointing me in the correct direction for the hardware would be most appreciated.
