Just a random thought.
Is it possible this is caused by one or other of ASLR - Address space layout randomization or DEP - Data Execution Prevention?
Dunno how you disable them on Win7; but I believe it can be done on a per process basis, though you would probably need Admin privileges. Worth a mench at least.
