"A trick in case of "reap" is to downvote directly after consideration (negative rep is obligatory for reaping)."

I do make a point of downvoting any node I've considered for reaping and had worked out that "trick" some time ago; regardless, thanks for sharing it as it may help others. (And sorry for the late reply: I've been tied up with other things mid-week.)
