This is not unique or new, as evidenced by hyperlinks in pod and others.

See inside the modern/current Pod::Html / http://perl5.git.perl.org/perl.git/history/HEAD:/ext/Pod-Html/lib/Pod/Html.pm, it uses Pod::Simple since about 2011-Jan-21, I doubt these bugs/issues still exist
