For clarity, it wasn't intended as a slight on anyone posting who has zero perl experience. In some instances someone inherits something written in perl, and they post here desperate for some form of help. Often their panic shines through in their posting, which lacks any real information. In responses often comes a welcome and pointers to the usual nodes about how to get the best out of the site, and how to help us help you. Sometimes it takes a while to coax sufficient details from the person in order to best advise. The snackoverflow attitude would see a career editor/moderator instantly mark most posts for closure, as someone once asked a question very similar to this. I think we do better than that here, most of the time.
