I wrote a distribution that uses the software, and here's what I did to get the Perl distribution to install:

# download: http://www.imagemagick.org/download/
tar xvfz ImageMagick-6.9.2-4.tar.gz
cd ImageMagick-6.9.2-4/
./configure --with-perl
sudo apt-get install libperl-dev
make
sudo make install

cpanm Image::Magick

[download]
