it's fine to edit a post... but as How do I change/delete my post? says, "It is uncool to update a node in a way that renders replies confusing or meaningless". If you edit, please use <strike> tags and mark sections as update: as necessary. But please don't completely replace the content of the node: it makes conversations harder to follow.
