I agree, but I also agree to disagree. Telling people to not respond after posting such a storng post is not going to work. People will respond.
Breaking a long existing module is not done in my opinion. If someone thinks he or she can do better, then they can write their own module. One of the strong things of CPAN is that everyone is free to decide whatever module they want to use. And I think that you are right that this way that choice is taken away. However if it is decided that a module is no longer core, well that is up to 'them'.
