I've been deploying websites since the beginning and
the cpan situation seems... odd.
Why just toss such an ancient, functional and valuable URI
(it's worth millions of dollars!)?
Shouldn't it be the other way round, with whatever META
means being replaced by SEARCH (in the url)?
Meta doesn't even look like CPAN.
Why even risk breaking so many incoming links?
It's such a bad idea I would pay to stop it. I can kick in
five figures. Where do I send the check?
The programmer is fighting against the two most destructive forces
in the universe: entropy and human stupidity.—Damian Conway
