We, well, like two or three of us, were using this (broked) at Amazon as early as 1998. But affected broken English and Ebonics and such was pretty popular with a decent slice of our generation; ironic verb usage s/drove/drived/, superfluous plural "s" on singulars, etc. Some of meme culture absorbed the sensibility.
