Well,
Tye made me "waste" my
1000th post here (no hard feelings, man). I guess it's better I not use the 1000th for my "milestone" post and use it instead for something a bit more practical.
So this is my milestone post. I've now written 1000 (pretty much) useful nodes to PerlMonks. I've been here for nearly two years, and I'm glad I joined. This forum has what it takes to be both a gathering place for the more seasoned folk
and a learning center for those who wish to be taught by programmers who truly enjoy Perl. I'm glad I get to help a lot of people, daily, with Perl. I also like strutting my regex and golf stuff, when the occasion arises.
:)
Lately, I've been very busy. College will do that you. I've not gotten as much done with my book as I should have, so I have to crack down on that. And I'm eventually going to add (more) cool regex stuff to Perl. But I have to work out my priorities. Don't worry, this site is still a priority... whenever I need to take a break from writing about Perl, I'll come here... and... write about Perl. Funny how those two are so very different.
I want to meet a lot more of you, too. YAPC, TPC... I'm hoping to be a presenter at the 2003 Perl Whirl, so come along there if you haven't already heard enough about regexes from me.
;) This is a great community, a
real community which faces its problems, and I'm glad to be a member. Now it's time for 999 more useful posts.
(Update: I'll be celebrating my 20th birthday in a couple of days.)
