Just gotta get this thought out of the way - 10th post, woo! Okay, sorry - I know 10 isn't a big deal, but hey. I've been a lurker for quite a few months now, and have only recently really been digging in.

I'm just amazed at how in the past month or two since I've been reading here on a daily basis, how much Perl has truly infested my thoughts.

My brother-in-law asked me what language I'd recommend for his project, and I almost cut him off by saying "Perl" even before he described the project to me. Turns out he wants something like grep in DOS, except it'll always search for the same string - Perl was a good option for it, I had the code written out in moments and it actually worked on the second run (had a small typo).

I find myself thinking about different scripts I'm working on (for personal or professional purposess) with almost every spare waking moment. Heck, it's even in my dreams a bit - my wife woke me up the other night, she said I'd been talking about hashes in my sleep (I'm not kidding).

So I sound a little psycho, but I'm sure there's some people out there that understand - I'm just so amazed at the simple beauty and power in Perl, that in a sense, I'm saddened I am only learning it now.

I'm signed up for some of the perl mailing lists, but I feel like this is one of the best places to get a good, clean answer. Some of the questions that go out on those lists... geez - RTFM. heh

I guess I'll stop rambling now - I just thought I'd post how much I'm enjoying the language, and enjoying this community. Thanks for letting me be a part. :)
