I am beginning the design phase of a small business application. The general gist of what I am trying to accomplish is: a way to create/update sales, orders and billing forms through a database. This will be run on a windows box exclusively {a machine I built and configured for this small business}.
My question is,
all biases aside, is Perl the right thing? Would C/C++ or even VB be a better platform to do this in? How strong is compiled Perl versus these other languages when it comes to interface and configurability? I don't have many other details at this time, except the database will probably be *cough* Access. I just need to get this company off of paper trails and note cards so that an order doesn't take 8 weeks when it should be there in 2. Any CONSTRUCTIVE input is welcomed. I ask the monks because I have zero experience with executable Perl and the Perl GUI.
mumbled to self - I suppose it could be done through a browser locally with Personal Web Server running. Anyway,
I need some pros and cons to make my descision. Thanx in anticipation.
