Ashen,
Welcome to our group. I too am new to perl, the more I learn, the more I realize I don't know. We are all newbies in a sense. Perl is a wonderful language for manipulating text, and doing fun things around the office or on the web. I'd suggest getting a copy of Learning Perl and heading over to the tutorials section. Like anything, you gotta start with the basics and go from there. There is a wealth of knowledge here at PM, sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming and hard to find, the Q&A section has categorized questions and answers from a wide range of perl related topics. Why ask if has already been asked right? Also, makeSuper Search your friend, if you can't find an answer to a question in Q&A it's probably somewhere here.

Good luck !
