Actually, the Perl 6 people themselves dislike the keyword local. In http://dev.perl.org/rfc/19.html and http://www.perl.com/pub/a/2002/01/15/apo4.html?page=7#rfc 019: rename the local operator it has been renamed temp.

For myself, I have high hopes for Perl 6. Yet, I have not given a look at Rindolf yet.
