A common solution to the "remember to upvote tomorrow" problem is to /msg yourself a pointer to it. This is also more easily disposed of the next day than a full entry into the personal nodelet.
That said, I have no objection to making the personal nodelet a little more -- well, personal. Right now, it's the only place where one can store links in an accessible place that no one else can see. Sure, one could use the scratchpad by making it non-public, but the scratchpad is useful in a public form. So, perhaps having the personal nodelet made a little more free-form might be useful.
