I am using perl to send a daily customized email to subscribers of a mailing list. I use "open(MAIL, "|/usr/lib/sendmail" and found that it takes about 6 seconds per email (for 1000 different emails that is one-and-a-half hour). Is there a faster way? They don't seem to have the Mailer::Mail module on our systemm but they do have Net::SMTP installed. Is that going to be faster?
