It would be very nice if Linking offsite in the site how to had some information on what special outside links are available in the form [place://words], like [isbn://] and [perldoc://], and where they go.
I have heard people talking about [jargon://] linking earlier, but today when I tried it, I found out that it didn't go to the place I expected, but rather some science place. It is probably all good and well, apart from the fact that they didn't have any matches for my linked word in the chatter box. :) Personally, I think the Jargon file would be appropriate to link to, but I am sure there is a reason. :)
While I was previewing this post, I was tryig some links, and found out that it is possible to link to [google://] this way, but I found no way to go to http://everything2.com for instance, which would a be a natural choice here, wouldn't it? I don't say there isn't a way, I say that I didn't find one.
So it would be real nice to have a list available, it would also making suggestions for more places that are easy to link to in a coherent way easier, when you know what is already available.
Could someone that has been around a bit more here give me some more examples of links that are possible to do while waiting for the docs to (hopefully) get updated?
Thanks :)
And yes, it has probably been brought up a million times, but the new Super Search and the Google link on it both came up emptyhanded on the searches I tried. So feel free to choke me with links, but know I did at least try :) And it was something I thought needed a fix.
