I second cLive;-)'s suggestion to look at the CGI-module. It lets you do the following: 

#!c:/www/perl/bin/perl.exe
use strict;
use warnings;
use CGI qw/:standard/;
use CGI::Carp('fatalsToBrowser');

print header(); # instead of putting print "Content-type: text/html\n\
+n";
print remote_user();

[download]
