Thanks for giving me something to think about. Just yesterday I was having that "toes-stepped-on" feeling because a new guy in the office was trying to write a regex to solve a complicated problem no one else in the office has been able to figure out a quick solution for. (Thus challenging my status as the go-to person for regexes in our office.) However, you've helped me see that rather than be annoyed, I should take advantage of the knowledge of others, and, if someone else does come up with a solution to this problem, look at what they did and how they did it and learn from them. Or, if I still feel challenged, rather than just seethe about it I should challenge
myself to develop a better solution.
Note to self: Getting problems solved is more important than ego.
