I am making a web application containing many modules and need a way of initialy storing the user authentication data so that all the code that executes later can easily read it. My initial choice was to add a hash to the enviroment. So, for instance the user's dog's name would be $ENV{A}{dog}, his cat's name $ENV{A}{cat}, etc.

It is so easy to do and seems to be working so well that I'm sure I've done something awefull. :-) Is there something fundamentally wrong with this use of the enviroment, and if so what would be a (concise and preferable) alternative?
