This site is devoted to Perl, not PHP. You should check out one of the mailing lists devoted to PHP. I'm sure someone there will help you.

BTW, PHP is designed for web development, not so much data munging. You really should look into learning Perl for the type of job you're considering. I bet after browsing around the site for a little while you will find a lot of information about the problem you are trying to solve and how to do it easily in Perl. Learning Perl will also help your skills at PHP programming.
