We're looking for a few good Monks. Also Friars, Scribes, Initiates, Acolytes, whatever. Can you typ, and do you know what #!/usr/bin/perl means? Welcome aboard!

We're going to give jcwren's Community Teachnig Project a whirl. I've gotten a few inquiries from interested monks, and that's good; there's still plenty of room left, though. We don't have anything finalized yet, although so far the consensus seems to be what SwiftOne's calling the "Anything Indexer" is what we're after. Here's a brief outline of the project goals:

1. The Anything Indexer will be a Perl application for sorting, indexing, storing, and cataloging ANYTHING. How, why, or what will be determined later. ;)
2. We want Monks of ALL skill levels to join in. The idea is to learn not just Perl, but what it's like to be in a project team environment. If you've ever wanted to be a professional developer, come on in. If you're bored and curious, come on it, too!
For now, that's all we know. If you're interested, drop me or jcwren a line. If you've got an idea for the project, let us know that, too. And remember; don't just tell us what you can already do for us. We don't want to just build an app. Tell us what you'd like to work on, even if you have absolutely no clue how to do it. That's what we're in this for.

More to follow as we think it up. And yes, we will be posting plenty of information to Perl Monks as the project continues.
