  1. go to the SETI@home homepage
  2. in the "User Zone", click on "Groups"
  3. enter "Perlmonks" in the "Search for a group named" box and click "Search"
  4. click on the "Perlmonks" group (this is the link)
  5. click on the "Join" button
  6. enter your email address and the password*
  7. that's all
