Thanks filter() just removes any instance of the delimiter in text.
Your solution sounds simple. Can you please give me an example. 
sub filter{
  $temp = $_[0];
  $temp =~ s/\:://; # Remove :: delimiter symbols in text.
  return ($temp);
}
