Speaking only about the perl "art": If I had turned something in like that for art class, I would have failed miserably. My instructor would have laughed and called it a childish attempt at completing the term.
I think that we are labeling too many things "art".
Update: I've been thinking and decided to add something. Is the code itself the art? Or what it produces? When does it stop being a compilation of text or web pages and become art? When does it stop being a jumble of information and instantly enlighten our minds? When does it stop looking like garbage and take our breath away?
