I can't seem to toggle the "newest first" "oldest first" widget in the supersearch form

Yes, it is disabled and appears greyed-out in my browsers. To quote from the original announcement:

I'd like to support searching "newest nodes first" but the MySQL optimizer will likely fight me on this.

No, it wouldn't be nice to have a support e-mail address. That is, unless you plan to find the people to staff it. I personally don't have time to answer the number of "you mispelt 'submit'" and similar e-mails that would result. The "public forum" nature prevents duplicates to a great degree and allows the whole community to pitch in with answers.
