I'm trying to help you get the best help possible. In a conversation, the speaker must be aware of the listener's background.

I would give you one kind of help if you understood what you had quoted. I would give you another kind of help if you didn't.

But since you didn't say, the question is of genuine concern. It's a bit misleading to have not declared that the code you quoted was not yours. Hence, my question was legitimate, in that it provided other answerers in this thread a better understanding of you, to know how to serve you better.
