"The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" is a well known sentence. It's used to display fonts because all 26 roman letters are present in a natural way.

Such a sentence is called "pangram", and there are a bunch of them. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/callibeth/pangrams.htm has a list. http://www.fleetingimage.com/wij/gd212/01-pangrams.html list more. One of my favorites is

Sphinx of black quartz judge my vow.
