I need a LAN client-server application with one unusual detail: server decide when to talk with clients. It will be run under UNIX and, of course, written in perl :)
I found two ways (may be there are more?). What is the better:
1) Periodicaly establish connection with each client, talk with it, and disconnect.
2) Establish a bunch of connections, periodicaly walk through them, talk with each and don't disconnect(leave it for the next loop).
Any guidelines, links or anything are wellcome.
