Hi, my problem is thus: someone gives me a matrix as below. This matrix can vary in dimensions. The aim of the exercise is to find your way vertically from the top of the matrix to the bottom using only the 1's. Not only do we have to find our way through the matrix but it has to be done using the fewest number of columns. You can jump more than one column to the left or right at a time as you go down.

An example of a route starting from the top would be using columns: 131111343111411

I have almost completed a solution for this but it takes far too long and I don't think it's very well hacked at all. I would love to know whether anybody knows of a module that would help with this or could put their thinking caps on for 5 minutes and come up with a streamline solution.
