Just wanted to thank everyone for their input. What I am reading here matches with what I thought. Since this is financial information (multi millions US) I will be implimenting an MD5 checksum on each file just to be sure.

I am not as concrned about the security as I am about the integrity. This is wholly behind our firewall on our internal network transferring between systems.

Also, thanks for pointing out the conversion between OS-es. I kind of forgot about that. It won't be a factor here, All SUN OS, but in the future and for anyone else who might read this article it is a very important piece of information.
