Lately I've been reading some nodes about pipes and child processes, but I still have a big problem. All of the post deal with the how's, and my question is, why? For what reasons or uses would I be making pipes and children? Perhaps this is because all the Perl experience I've had is on the Internet with CGI, so maybe this is more of a shell type programming. Anyway, could anyone shine some light on a poor inexperienced monk?
