I've only been active on PerlMonks for about two months now, but I don't think I've seen a single question gone unanswered. Quite a number of saints seem to make it a point of honour to try and help out, sometimes even a few days after the question was posted. In this respect I don't really think it's worth the coding effort.

Being first to answer a question? Well, that's a good way to gain some extra XPs ;-) But then again, on average it will do to just scan the new notes. Anyway, you'll just have about three minutes to be the first to answer a question.

On the other hand, it would be nice to rank posts by the amount of discussion they generate since this is not always reflected by the note's reputation. But well, that's only nice for those interested in group dynamics (as I am).

Just my 2 cents, -gjb-
