Ok this piece of code opens a file take out text in the first line written like this [text]. It deletes the  [ and ] and then prints the result.Still with me. O.K.
The only problem is the program returns nothing, zilch, nada, rud ar bith.
my $location = "hall"; open(LOC, $location) or die "Could not open area script $location.\n" +. "Please check if the file was deleted or moved. +\n"; while(<LOC>){ my $info = $_; chomp($info); my $length = length($info); $length = $length--; my $data = substr $info, 1, $length; last; } print $data;
Help Please.
