I don't work for O'Reilly ( Chewlies GUM?!?!?! )but I believe Credit should be given where it is due. I've always used their books as the main compendium of learning for anything computer related. Especially in leau of all the BS I learn while getting my BS in Comp Sci. Anywho, about a month or two ago I wrote them an acerbic letter saying they were using Tabaccoo Industry tactics in getting/keeping readers. Just kind of for fun..shits and giggles. Well, they answered in kind ( they sued me...kidding ). Tim O'Reilly thought my email was funny and decided to post it on their Web Site and send me some free books ( FREE SWAG!!! ). So I scored the O'Reilly Qt, Advanced Perl Programming, MySQL and MSQL, and Programming Python. I asked for Linux Network Administrators ver 2 and Perl For System Administrators but they weren't out. I did get the other four ( with the Advanced Perl book signed by Tim O'Reilly ) and a promise that when they other two were published I'd recieve them. They completely stuck to their word ( not something that is easy to find when a large company is dealing with some no name Perl Hacker looker for free sh*t ). All the books were incredible. I'm still weeding my way through them learing as fast as I can. If you need any assistance and decide to get a book for it, check out O'Reilly first and see if they have what you need. A friend of mine akins their books to "The X for Dummies books are too light, O'Reilly books, throw you in and it's sink or swim, but you learn your material." They're great books, if you haven't already pick some up.
Again, I don't work for O'Reilly ( CHEWLIES?!?!? ), but it's just credit where credit is due.
Thanks for listening to the Ramblings
