In an effort to standardize my directory structures, I am seeking the guidence of fellow monks.

How do you have your directory structures for your projects, development work, testing work and other misc codes within a single box or across the boxes.? How do you keep revisions of code, access the input/output from your scripts etc. (fullpath /relative path)
Example directories: 

/dev 
/source 
/in 
/out 
/config 
/icons 
/images 
/logs
etc...
