\/\*is right, but don't put it in the character class ([...]) because it will catch / and * separately. Put it outside, for example something like:
# *** UNTESTED *** if( ($row =~/^(?:[#;*\s+]|\/\*)?\s*version:?\s+(\d+\.\d+|)/i) # *** UNTESTED ***
