I know there have been problems obtaining a working version of the DBD::MySQL module for ActivePerl as there isn't an official ppm version available yet.

The ReadMe file for the version at CPAN gives a link to a ppm version someone has put together, but I was not able to install it correctly on Windows NT.

I'm not alone in this, see this node.

This might not affect Linux, or you might not be using ActivePerl, but you may need to be prepared to install manually if it does, and you are.
