hpuxperl,
From CPAN:

PREREQUISITES:
Starting from version 2.0, this module comes without a PARI library included For the source of PARI library see ftp://megrez.math.u-bordeaux.fr/pub/pari.

From the README:
Possible complications are addressed in the file INSTALL:

  • Not having Net::FTP installed and working, and not having GP/PARI build directory "nearby" (as parent, kid or sibling);
  • Failing compile or configuration: wrong assembler architecture, wrong paricfg.h (CLK_TCK etc.);

    From INSTALL:
    If the detection-of-assembler is wrong, put machine=assembler_type to the Makefile.PL line, as in
    perl Makefile.PL machine=hppa
    As the last resort, machine=none means using a portable-and-slow C code.
    Then it goes on to explain the MANUAL process - which is much more involved than I suggested previously

    Hope this helps
    Cheers - L~R
