Hmmm... I was just trying to write some perl poetry and stumbled onto this little brouhaha. What I think is interesting, is how Perl may not be the right solution for the job. However, Perl can do anything. In the case of CGI, or any web application, Perl may not be the correct solution, but it glues it together. Even I am humble when Perl is not the correct solution (i.e., Windows OS and VBScript, bad experience with proprietary software, don't ask ). But Perl seems to be able to do anything, it is just a matter of How and How fast.
