First of all, I'd like to thank zentara too for his answer.
The solution followed was to upload a .tar file of the directory, as you did with the .zip file. I treated the .tar file as a normal file, reading directly it's contents. I'm not very happy with this solution.
I've tryed to unpack the .tar file on the server side, but
I didn't knew how to retrieve the temporary files that the upload and unpack tar generates.
Can you send me the server side CGI that "that take zip files from browser clients and unpack them on the server"?
