Maybe like the error message says, you didn't strip carriage returns after a network transfer. You are installing on unix, and your Makefile.PL has DOS line endings, if you used FTP to transfer the module files to the unix machine, you need to do it again, this time using text mode so that the line endings are translated correctly. Or, better yet, FTP the .tar.gz file to the unix machine, and unpack it there.

The only problem you have with make/make test/make install, is that the first command failed, so you don't have a Makefile for them to use, you can't blindly continue on if the earlier steps fail.
