As it turns out, for my purposes the advantages C/XS would supply me over pure perl just aren't worth the time it takes to write the module. All I really wanted was to connect over TCP, send/receive data, close. Truth be told, I've never done perl sockets and I figured I'd rather learn XS and use all the fancy IPv6 C types I wield with such might.
Deflating to say the least, but at least I will learn something new and perly; sockets :D
Anyways, thanks for your input, tye actually threw comments at me about this post as soon as it went up, I just don't know how to remove it... :)
