Check you Perl path too! I use: #!/usr/bin/perl

And make a simple script to see if Perl works: 

#!/usr/bin/perl

  print "Content-type: text/html\n\n" ;
  print "Hello!\n" ;

Note that exit(0) can be interpreted as error in some OS!
