Note: This doesn't have much to do with PERL, but it's just a warning to all who read it

I always thought IT computer support was a joke ( granted I've been working on computers for over half my life ) and thought I'd rarely need to use it.

Well I bought a Compaq Presario 1700T Laptop and I will never buy another Compaq. Why? Well, the computer is great, don't get me wrong, it's running at full capacity on Linux ( Audio, Video, Modem (via PCMCIA ), Ethernet( via PCMCIA ). The problem is I messed up ( a serious cockpit problem here ) and deleted my windows partition. No big deal. I'll just reload. So I reloaded the box, but don't have the drivers. And here is why you shouldn't buy Compaq: Their support is crap. They will not send me the drivers. They tell me the quick restore ( image ) discs aren't available ( read: don't exist ) so now I dont have the Audio, Video, Modem, Ethernet drivers that I need. I'm trying every venue I can to get the damned drivers I need, they don't post them on the net, so I'm trying to go through a contact my family has at Compaq.

I like the computer, but the support is enough to make me not buy a Compaq ever again.

Here endeth the rant.
