Me no expert, but I see plenty of things on CPAN that solve the same problem in different ways. Consider the myriad XML parsers (e.g. XML::Parser, XML::Simple, XML::Simpler, and so on). If it is good code, it will get used and become popular. I don't see there being a problem with it
